Second Round of Registration Open
We invite academics, researchers, policymakers, industry practitioners, marketing professionals, and destination managers to share their insights on the current situation facing the tourism sector. The pivotal question to be addressed during the conference is how the industry can safeguard the health and other concerns of tourists while adapting to a ‘new’ normality.
Pokhara, Nepal — The OTS Academy, in collaboration with several international partners, has announced the 12th International Conference on ‘Sustainable Tourism & Development: Risks and Opportunities In Uncertain Times.’ The event, set to take place from October 9-11, 2023, will provide an essential platform for dialogue on sustainability in the tourism industry amidst the ongoing challenges of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the unique features of this year’s conference is a call for papers from participants. Individuals wishing to present a paper are invited to submit an abstract of no more than 250 words with 5-6 keywords for review by the Scientific Committee. Notably, all papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication in a special issue of the ‘Journal On Tourism & Sustainability’ (JOTS), a peer-reviewed journal based in Oxford, UK, dedicated to advancing critical thinking on tourism as a catalyst for sustainable development.
The themes of the conference encompass a wide range of topics in the realm of sustainable tourism. These include climate change challenges, community involvement in rural tourism, cultural and heritage tourism encounters, impacts of Covid-19 on employment and hospitality, transport innovation and technology, sustainable destination development and planning, sustainability issues for SMEs, and more.
The deadline for registration and submission of abstracts (optional) is September 30, 2023. Interested individuals are encouraged to mark their calendars and contribute to this dialogue on sustainable tourism in these uncertain times.
Registration for the conference is now open. Participants are required to fill out a form, where they will provide personal details, choose their registration type, and optionally submit an abstract and pay the delegate fee to confirm participation.
